A finer screen-time ladder

Screen time used to move the potato in big, blunt jumps. Now the ladder is finer, so a slightly heavier afternoon nudges the read a notch instead of waiting for a cliff edge.

We also pulled out a dead piece of plumbing behind the scenes (an old report extension that was no longer doing anything). Smaller app, same potato.

Screen time, the sanctioned way

Reading screen time on iOS is fussy by design, and for good reason. We moved Potatoed onto the sanctioned channel for it, so the numbers behind your daily potato are steadier and play nicely with the system.

You should not notice anything except a more reliable spud. That is the goal.

Story May 20, 2026

Why your potato gets fried

When stress signals stack up (long stretches of screen time, bursty days, a rhythm that has gone wobbly) the potato gets a little fried. Spirals for eyes, the whole bit.

The point is not to make you feel bad. It is to surface the pattern in a way you can actually glance at, then point you toward one small way to cool down. No spiral required.

Earning the shades

Most wellness apps reward you for doing more. Potatoed has a soft spot for doing well, which is not always the same thing.

A steady run of low-stress days is its own kind of win, so we made the potato celebrate it with a pair of well-earned shades. Chillax mode is the streak made visible.
